Uruguay Perdiz Packages

Perdiz hunting over pointing dogs is just one part of a Los Gauchos Perdiz hunting package.

Uruguay dove hunting OR Uruguay duck hunting can be combined out of the same lodge during the Upland hunting season.

Perdiz season is May to the end of July and Uruguay has become the best country to Upland hunt with the various guides and well trained dogs as well as the land and fields where the Perdiz can be found.

Why we are different

Los Gauchos stands out from the crowd. We offer a variety of trips and we let YOU decide the hunt. As long as it is in season AND the huntiing conditions are good - we assist with all the details of your bird hunt.

The Uruguay Perdiz packages include not only the guided hunting with highly trained Upland game bird dogs, but the shotguns, and the tips that most South America hunting trips DO NOT include.

Decription of the Uruguay Perdiz Hunt:

The Upland hunting in Uruguay takes place in combination with the Uruguay dove hunts OR Uruguay duck hunting.

For those dove hunting: enjoy a morning Perdiz hunt in the field with the Upland bird dogs and guide. You will hunt until you reach your limit or you are ready for some lunch back at the hunting lodge.

The afternoons will be spent dove hunting in the fields.

There is no special equipment needed or requied for the Uruguay Perdiz hunt. We do recommend some sort of blazing orange shirt or hat. Safety always comes first and the Perdiz stay close to the ground and you will find yourself shooting straight and fast when the Perdiz pop into the air in front of you.

When duck hunting in Urugauy you will enjoy the morning duck hunt and then enjoy a nice lunch back at the lodge. The afternoon will include the Perdiz hunt with the dogs and guide assisting you.

Remember the bag limit is regulated in Uruguay and the limit is 10 Perdiz per hunter. Most will get their bag limit. You will want to make sure you bring some back to the kitchen as the Perdiz is a white meat bird and absolutely delicious when cooked on the grill with all the South American tasty spices.

Tips for Upland Hunting in Uruguay

First, have fun. Enjoy the farmland of Uruguay without cactus or creatures to disrupt your Upland hunt. Next, dress appropriately. Remember you will be walking and having heaving coat on may cause you to get over-heated. Layers is always the best way to dress for hunting in Uruguay. Comfortable shoes and if it is July, wear some warm socks that are thick and allow you to walk the fields while Perdiz hunting.

No matter how good a shot you are, without a well trained dog by your side you can forget about an awesome Perdiz hunt. A well trained upland dog is an invaluable tool for the Upland hunting enthusiast. The professional guides in Uruguay know what it takes to encourage a young setter or pointer to be the next Upland hunting prince.

Unlike waterfowl hunters training their lab, training an upland bird dog doesn't take near as extensive of a training program, just the right training. The guides in Uruguay start the dogs young with proper introductions to the birds.

Los Gauchos is proud of our Perdiz hunting program and those that enjoy bird hunting with dogs will see why we put so much effort in the training and care for the various Upland bird dogs such as pointers, setters, and Brittanies.
